Fillings
There are a number of different fillings, including:
• Amalgam (silver coloured).
• Composite fillings (tooth coloured).
• Glass ionomer (tooth coloured).
• Porcelain inlays (tooth coloured).
• Gold inlays and onlays (gold coloured).
Bridge
A Bridge is a fixed replacement option for missing teeth provided healthy and strong teeth are present adjacent to the gap. A bridge can take support from one or more such teeth depending upon the clinical need and assessment. The bridge is glued (cemented) to the prepared teeth either as a full coverage restoration (like a crown) or a wing extension on the inside of the teeth (usually a single missing front tooth and is called a Maryland bridge). A Bridge can be made of metal, white porcelain covering metal, or metal-free white zirconia depending upon the functional and aesthetic requirements.
Crown
A crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth. A crown is sometimes known as a ‘cap’.
Denture
People wear dentures to replace lost or missing teeth so they can enjoy a healthy diet and smile with confidence. Dentures are made of either acrylic (plastic) or metal.
Root Canal
Root canal treatment (also called ‘endodontics’) is needed when the blood or nerve supply of the tooth (called the ‘pulp’) is infected through decay or injury.
Implant
Dental implants are durable, natural-looking tooth replacements. They consist of a titanium post surgically inserted into the jawbone, supporting a crown to restore function and enhance your smile.
